From John Galliano, Fall 2006. The perfect Halloween do?
I don’t have a Halloween outfit to show for, but I thought the Galliano creation featured here brings home the essence of dark, in my view.

In today’s Stockholm newspaper DN is an interesting article on redefining luxury, it’s changing premises and its spreading to the middle class rather than being exclusive to the “absurdly affluent”. I can’t help seeing the new D&G advertising for their latest collection in this light. It is quite obvious that they are trying to reach a different crowd than those who bought the original LV bags of the 1920s and crossed the Atlantic twice a year to spend the summer season in France, so much is clear. I actually met with Gunilla Stolpe when I was at her shop browsing. I really had no intention on purchasing a short coat, but I spoke to her some about her inspirations, her designs and she explained to me in great detail, how she made this yellow coat – which is what sold me the coat and of course, her pleasant personality.
I call it an Easter-coat, because of the yellow and this particular yellow is strongly associated with Easter in Sweden (perhaps other countries too where they celebrate Easter). There was one in a dark brown but I figured I haven’t got anything yellow in my wardrobe. Or very few yellow coloured items in my wardrobe, so why not brighten it up with this?
Apart from its colour which cheers me up just by looking at it, it’s warm without adding too much bulk on the frame. There is actually a matching ribbon belt to it which is not featured in the picture above.
Jean-Michel Cazabat Python Ballet Skimmer
I absolutely love Python. The Jean-Michel Cazabat skimmers are on my wish list. There was a similar pair I found in London from L.K. Bennett but they didn’t have the pair in my size. Unfortunate.
Well, at least I now have something to look forward to and to look out for when out about town, browsing. Perfect!

I’ve read in the past few days, the following three news articles on James Watson. The 79 year old is a Nobel Prize winner (1962) and has served for 50 years as a director of the Cold Spring Harbour Laboratory on Long Island. He is considered a world leader in research into cancer and genetics. What I write in this post is based on these three articles I’ve thus read. Have you ever watched someone dance that so inspired you to want to dance and be all that she is?
The inspiration I would like to share today is Cyd Charisse.
I believe the first time I watched Cyd Charisse was in Singing in the Rain. Most people would remember Debbie Reynolds in that movie but I wasn’t all too drawn to her doll like looks in that movie. I watched that movie instead, for Gene Kelly and my love of dance. But when Cyd Charisse came on screen, I was mesmerized. I thought she was one of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen – a svelte figure with legs that went on for miles. And when she moved, I wished I were in the same room as she were.
