I was first introduced to boot cut jeans, oddly enough, by an ex-boyfriend of mine when I was about 16 (?). Prior to that, I was wearing mostly high waisted skinny jeans or slim cut jeans – which have now actually come back into fashion, like these dark blue Lollobrigida Jeans by 18th Amendment, currently in stores.

But at that time, boot cut was the fashion and it was considered rather Singapore EMO to pair it up with a heavy pair of Doc Martens (mine lasted 8 years!) and then act as if you don’t really care what you have on you when you walk out the door. It was kewwwwl, man! Drove my parents nuts!

But these days, I’m rather happy that the cut of jeans have such wide variation and that skinny, coupled with high waist is back! The only problem is, I’ve thrown away the ones I had so many years ago. I think these days I would rather like to go back to things that I have had in my wardrobe many years ago, to see if they can still pass for something ‘fashionable’ today? Or will they simply look outdated, even high waisted skinny jeans of say 1980s?

First thoughts – cheesy. But it would be a fun project to rediscover old style with new.
