Rachel Chung, with the absolutely perfect red pout!
Rachel, who previously worked with Singapore Airlines as an air hostess, has a sharp intellect and is an open and fluent writer. She is unafraid to express her thoughts and it’s worth spending a few hours reading at her blog.
I’ve always been proud of SIA, much thanks to the quality standards set by the organization and by the branding of The Singapore Girl – a branding in its own class. Every single Singapore Girl (and guy actually) look picture perfect on the job. I mean, have you ever flown SAS, KLM or Lufthansa where some of the women look like men and literally throw the food at you? Horrendous way to start a long flight, where you get peanuts in your face instead of that relaxed spa treatment you so hoped for to experience, the moment you leaft your office for that long trip!
So despite some sniggers about Singapore Girls being overly pretty I think they’re doing a great job personifying the quality image. Besides which, one can never be too pretty in my view! Given a choice, I’d rather look at picture perfect beauties flying the skies, than someone with dishevelled hair and look like they’ve obviously slept on the job because it was a long haul trip.
A lot of grooming and training goes into the making of a Singapore Girl. Tips that these girls can take through their years to come. I would not hesitate one minute to pounce a Singapore Girl and ask her most anything about make-up and clothes because she would know!
And pounce is exactly what I did when I spotted Rachel with her perfect pout – apparently, the girls are taught to choose make-up according to their skin tones! Myself? I’ve never been able to figure it out. After 14 years of being interested in make-up, I can hardly find the right lipstick colour for myself and often go without lipstick because of that.
So just short of being branded a stalker by Rachel, how does she get those perfect lips?
Nothing much to it except that I draw a clean line over a lightly powdered lip line then fill in with red lipstick. One of the tricks I learnt from SQ I guess. It also helps that I have naturally full lips 🙂
Alright, it doesn’t sound too complicated, so …my turn to try!
Thank you, Rach!
