The summer months of Tromsø is warm, languid and beautiful. The university is closed for the summer holiday and this makes a marked difference to the atmosphere of this city, that has as its core activities, education, medical expertise and tourism. Tourists still dock off from the majestic looking cruise ships that pass by, but the crowds are fleeting and transient. What is, are the long hours of summer sun, to be enjoyed at one’s own pace if you’re spending your summer here.
The compact city of Tromsø is known to have many cozy cafés and restaurants tucked into its various corners. Most cafés are open during the summer months, catering to visitors. And if you’re passing by this city, one of the coziest and with a selection of some of most gorgeous dishes presented is Art Café, located around the corner from Quality Hotel and Clarion The Edge.
Opened on 1 December 2015 by Tentea Nicolae Florin, the café concept was to combine his love of art with his passion for good food. And this, you can certainly feel and see as soon as you step into the café. Gorgeous decoration, with meticulous plating and generous food portions, you’ll be tempted for one or two more bites of their offerings before you go.
Brunch is certainly something to try at Art Café, I haven’t been served a better Eggs Benedict on toast. It’s also easy to feel at home here, because they serve some of my favourite food misses such as the Swedish west coast shrimp sandwich, made Norwegian style. And not in the least, a scrumptious Tiramisù.
Tentea Nicolae Florin, Owner of Art Café.
The interior of Art Café combines both art and food. Periodic art displays give seasons to the interior, the change in atmosphere comes with the showing of different artists and their works.
Eggs Benedict on cured salmon and toast, the perfect brunch.
In tradition keeping with the Nordic west coast, shrimp sandwich, Norwegian style.
Tiramisù, served. One of my favourite desserts.
Capuccino.
